WEATHER UPDATE AS OF 9/10/24:
Diocese of Beaumont school officials are vigilantly monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Francine. Francine has not changed much so far this morning. At 10am it still had 65mph sustained winds, but it has made a slight turn to the northeast. This trend will continue over the next 36 hours.
Francine will likely become a hurricane later today, and it looks like it will make landfall over the middle of Vermillion Bay in Louisiana late tomorrow afternoon or early evening. The biggest threats here in SE Texas will be scattered showers and gusty winds. For most of our area, they will stay below tropical storm force.
Our schools will be open tomorrow, and all after-school activities will continue to take place as scheduled. We will continue to keep you updated as the week progresses.
WEATHER UPDATE 9/9:
Diocese of Beaumont school officials continue to monitor the progress of what has now developed into Tropical Storm Francine. Model consensus currently has the storm tracking just to our east over SW Louisiana. Our schools will be open tomorrow. The Golden Triangle area is currently projected to have 2" to 4" of rain on Wednesday. We will send an update concerning our schools before 3pm tomorrow.
Currently, all projected after-school activities for this week will continue to take place as scheduled.
We’re excited to invite all students from St. Anthony and other feeder schools to the Homecoming Block Party at Kelly High School! Join us as we run through the tunnel at 6:45 PM and celebrate our Diocese schools.
