Catholic Identity

Let it be known to all who enter here that Christ
is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.
He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classrooms.
He is the reason for this school.

What is a Catholic School?

Catholic identity is more than just attending Catholic school. It is the underlying belief that permeates aspect of the Saint Anthony School experience and helping to develop students.

According to the Papal Declaration, Gravissimum Educationis, “...the duty of educating belongs to the Church…because she has the responsibility of announcing the way of salvation to all men, of communicating the life of Christ to those who believe, and, in her unfailing solicitude, of assisting men to be able to come to the fullness of this life.” Ultimately, the Catholic school exists to help children pursue with excellence all that is good, true, and beautiful.

At Saint Anthony Cathedral Basilica School the curriculum includes the incorporation of Catholic identity across all subjects:

  1. First Friday adoration.

  2. Training in a weekly virtue that is emphasized school-wide.

  3. Daily assembly with regular prayer, scripture, and feast day explanations.

  4. Religious instruction in all grades.

  5. Weekly Mass.

  6. Weekly practicum class in which students learn how to live out their faith.

  7. Retreat opportunities for students.

  8. Reconciliation opportunities.

  9. Sacramental preparation in second grade.

  10. Service projects for students through out the year.
